KEEPING ONE'S SANITY

keeping one's sanity
after holiday metal down.
bills piling up and over.
happens every year.
one would think,
one would adapt by now.
and, for most part,
one does adapt.
by the New Year
all is forgiven,
setting sights on next
holiday season.

she said: hi handsome.
he looked behind  himself.
looked all around.
but he, the only guy there.

he turned back towards her,
but she was gone,
like she'd never been there.
and she had not.

just another dream, then.
he should be used to it by now.
he'll wake up soon.

that lethargic feeling;
alive but not alive.
dead but not dead.
sad but not.

kind of like that
but not really like that at all.
sort of like that, but maybe not.

but feeling a wee bit trite
at this stage of game.
but this is just where
I'll just rollover and go.
