RUMOR MILL

oh, that nasty rumor mill;
hurts so many folk.
folks not deserving of all that nasty gossip.

oh, how I loathe that rumor mill;
as should we all.
although, not likely to happen.

politics and art
bad choice for romance
marriage of convenience
thieves passing in the night

lots of mediocre minds
suffer from mediocrity;
not having what it takes,

rise about the din.
be that as it may,
ain't no damned sin.

keeping outward appearance
squeaky clean, while inward,
whole mess of ugly;

becoming more and more difficult
keeping the two separate
as time seems to slow to crawl.
shaker in nefarious realm.

curious neighbors
may just be good thing
should police come calling

needing answers
to what when down
in our little town.

a beauty so mesmerizing
it cuts like a knife.
bravest lay helpless,
never to rise again.
