FINAL INDIGNITY
final indignity of a dying poem.
poet's last ditch effort
before throwing in towel.
before reality strikes
a final blow:
throwing poet to curb.
life screams: get a job!
get a real job!
job paying living wage.
rejection riding high
on a big black mule.
in close proximity of a
raging squirrel, with
skyrocketing arrogance,
loaded for bear.
humans don't stand a chance.
only question now:
what's squirrel's drug of choice?
certainly steroids in the mix.
and will all that squirrel
bravado stand-up against
rising tide of anti sentiment
vantage point of albatross
horizon to horizon
gliding gracefully
beautiful blue sky
what is it about microbes
keeps people busting their humps
trying desperately
getting their minds around
pathogens eating our brains?
brain dead bumpers and
dumpers; throw in a few thumpers
just for good measure
and story time and play time.
